Tour of Cap-Ferrat – Beautiful walk along the Mediterranean

Minal Côte d'Azure, Travel beautiful walks, Cap-Ferrat, French Riviera, Mediterranean, Walks around Nice

This beautiful coastal path follows the limestone cliffs which protected the lighthouse at the end of the peninsula in the olden days. The lighthouse was built in 1827 but was destroyed in 1944 in the Second World War before being rebuilt in 1951.

As the path winds one gets a view of the Mediterranean with sailing boats. You come across multiple sets of stairs to climb as the path rambles up and down with gorgeous views. Each time you a turn around a bend to a beaten path you think this is it! but one little bay after the other keeps appearing leading to tranquil rocky coves. At the end of the path, we were greeted with a rock which was painted and had morphed into a fish.

The walk was idyllic! with the warm Mediterranean sun walking along the crystal clear turquoise waters.

Route: From the tourist office/car park follow Chemin de Passable downhill and onto Plage de Passable.  Walk past the little restaurants on the beach and follow the track out onto Chemin du Lido for a short distance before taking the set of steps on your right down onto the coastal path. From here keep walking along the well-trodden footpath around the peninsula until it eventually leads you out through a residential area onto Avenue Claude Vignon. Continue straight on into the main hub of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Turn left on Montée du Cap then right onto Traverse de la Ferme de May. Continue straight onto Boulevard de la Libération, keep left on Avenue Denis Semeria, looking out for a footpath on your left which heads down some steps towards the botanical gardens but then cuts across to Chemin de Passable. From here the bus stop car park can be reached by turning left towards Plage de Passable then retracing your steps from there.

You can pick up the map for the walks in Cap-Ferrat at the tourist information centre.
